Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is somatic coaching?
Somatic coaching is a body-centered approach to healing and growth. It invites you to reconnect with your body’s wisdom, regulate your nervous system, and access deeper self-awareness. Sessions include embodied practices like breathwork, movement, mindful awareness, and guided inquiry to help you shift patterns, heal gently, and feel more like you.
2. What is the difference between somatic coaching and therapy?
While both can be deeply healing, somatic coaching is future-oriented and focused on growth, integration, and embodied transformation. Therapy often explores and treats mental health diagnoses, whereas coaching supports thriving, empowerment, and personal development. Coaching may explore the past when needed but is not clinical or diagnostic. If you're currently in therapy, somatic coaching can complement it beautifully.
3. Who is this work for?
This work is for anyone with a body who wants to feel more alive, whole, and connected. It’s for people who are committed to growth, value process over quick fixes, and want to include body, mind, emotion, and spirit on their path.
Whether you're overwhelmed, stuck, burned out, navigating chronic stress or pain, or simply seeking deeper alignment, this work meets you where you are. It can be especially supportive if you're feeling disconnected from your body or seeking insight into the messages it holds.
Somatic work helps regulate the nervous system, fosters a sense of safety and belonging within, and supports healing from the inside out. For those living with chronic pain, illness, or trauma, this approach offers a gentle way to reconnect with your body and cultivate a more trusting, compassionate relationship with yourself.
I work especially well with deep feelers, empaths, helpers, creatives, and those in life transitions. Many people come to this work after talk therapy or self-help and still feel something is missing. That missing piece is often the body.
This is sacred work—an invitation to ground, center, and build resilience in an often chaotic world. It brings you back to your inner knowing, supports emotional regulation, and helps you feel more at home in your body. Somatic work brings you home to yourself.
4. What happens in a session?
Each session unfolds as a gentle invitation back to yourself. We begin by slowing down—checking in, grounding, and listening deeply to what your body and heart need most in the moment. From there, we may explore somatic practices like body awareness, breathwork, nervous system regulation, mindful reflection, or parts work. Sessions can include guided imagery, mindset shifts, creative expression, and more—always at your pace.
Rooted in trauma-informed care and embodied presence, this work supports emotional regulation, inner resilience, and a deeper connection to your true self.
5. What does somatic really mean?
“Somatic” comes from the Greek word soma, meaning the living body. This approach sees your body not as a machine to fix or a mind to override, but as a wise, living process. When we include the body in healing, we access more wholeness, clarity, and lasting change.
6. Do I need to have experience with somatic work to start?
Not at all. All of you is welcome—whether you’re new to embodiment or have been on this path a long time. I’ll guide you gently, at your pace. Curiosity is the only requirement.
7. Can we meet just once, or do I need a package?
While I do offer single sessions, I only recommend them as a trial to see if we’re a good fit, for follow-ups to ongoing work, or as a “tune-up” if you’ve worked with me before. Because this work is deep, relational, and unfolds over time, it can’t be rushed—or contained in a single session. The body doesn’t operate on a schedule, and lasting transformation requires space, safety, and consistency. To truly experience the benefits, I recommend weekly sessions for at least 3 months. This is not a technique or a quick fix—it’s a process of coming home to yourself.
8. What if I’m nervous about starting or reaching out?
That’s completely normal. It takes courage to begin something new—especially something that asks you to feel. I’m here to support you, not push you. We go at your pace. You can start with a free consultation to see if this feels like a good fit.
9. How long does it take to feel a shift?
That varies by person. Because this work goes deep and honors your natural pace, it's not a quick fix. I recommend at least 3 months of weekly sessions to build momentum and integration. Growth happens over time. Some clients feel a shift after the first session, while for others it's a slower unfolding. This work supports lasting transformation, not surface-level change.
10. What kind of results or benefits can I expect?
While I don’t promise specific results (because every journey is unique), many clients report feeling:
– Less overwhelm and stress
– More grounded and present
– Greater emotional resilience
– Stronger boundaries
– A deeper connection with their intuition
– Renewed self-trust and inner calm
– Clarity about life direction
– A sense of being more fully themselves
This work is also especially helpful for those managing chronic pain, illness, or trauma. By fostering safety and connection in the body, somatic practices can support healing on a deep cellular level, help regulate the nervous system, and promote a more embodied relationship with your experience of health and well-being.
11. Why is embodiment important in this work?
Embodiment helps you move from thinking about your life to fully living it. It brings awareness into your body, helping you reconnect with your inner signals, boundaries, and needs — and guiding you toward clarity, regulation, and wholeness.
For anyone who feels overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in their head, embodiment is a path back to presence, self-trust, and inner resilience. It helps you process experience more gently, feel safe in your body, and live with greater alignment and authenticity.
12. What if I’ve tried many things before and still feel stuck?
Many clients come to me after trying talk therapy, mindset work, or self-help and still feel disconnected. This work adds the missing piece—your body. When you include the body, you access deeper layers of change, resilience, and self-connection. You may be surprised by what becomes possible.
13. How are sessions held?
All sessions are virtual via Zoom. You’ll want a private, quiet space where you feel safe and comfortable to move, reflect, and be fully present.
14. Do you take insurance?
No, I do not work within the insurance model. This is a conscious decision that allows me to offer care that is spacious, client-centered, and grounded in somatic wisdom.
Insurance typically requires a mental health diagnosis, treatment plans, and predetermined session structures — which may not align with the needs of this work or the people I support. Many clients appreciate the privacy and flexibility that comes with working outside of that system.
15. What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Once purchased, sessions and packages are non-refundable. You can reschedule sessions within the time frame of your plan or within the same month for individual sessions. I kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for rescheduling; otherwise, the session may be forfeited.
16. What if I have more questions?
I'm here for them. You can reach out anytime or book a free 15-minute consultation. Whether you're just curious or ready to begin, I'd love to connect.
